Raising Readers to Become Leaders

Sarah-Lyn
In 2020, while home full-time with my kids, I started photo journaling the picture books we read together and the creative activities they inspired. During this time, I was also completing my Master's in Library and Information Science part-time at Western University in which I graduated from in spring 2022. During my studies, I became a literacy advocate, an influencer, and prominent children's literature book reviewer on my Instagram page EcoCraft Kids, which combines a love of reading with creative learning and play.
Combining my previous degree in Fine Arts with my newfound knowledge in library and information science, I aim to create an exciting and fun literacy learning experience for children from 5-12 years old.

In 2013, I ran my own dog boarding/walking business called Fur the luv of dog for 3 years until becoming a mother in 2016. At that time, I decided to raise my daughter full-time until Fall 2017 when I also headed back to school full-time to become a certified PSW. Shortly after, I began working in an adult day program in the special needs room until spring 2020.
When my daughter started Junior Kindergarten in September 2020, I decided to educate her through a homeschooling pod. It was through my experience working with both adults with special needs and with the homeschool kids that I discovered how much I enjoyed being creative, crafting, developing activities and programming for people of all ages.
